It started with Theo. We adopted him from a shelter in Brooklyn in 2022 - a scrappy, undersized rescue with one ear that wouldn't stand up. We brought him home, drove to the nearest big-box pet store, and walked the aisles for an hour. We left with nothing.
Everything was loud. Plastic. Patterned within an inch of its life. The dishes looked like party favors, the toys squeaked like fire alarms, the leashes were neon. We're two designers - we live in a small apartment we worked hard to make ours - and the thought of bringing any of it home felt like surrendering our living room to a sale rack at PetSmart.
So we started looking. We found a few things - a Japanese ceramic bowl, a hand-stitched leather collar from Italy, a chew toy from a workshop in Portland - and we paid too much for all of them. But they were ours. They felt like the rest of our home. They lasted.
That was the seed of Woofsy. We started with eight pieces, sourced from small studios and family-run workshops, vetted by an independent panel of vets and trainers. We sent them to a hundred friends with dogs and asked them to be brutal. Most pieces didn't make the cut. The ones that did became our first collection.
Three years later, we have 70+ pieces, a small warehouse in New Jersey, a vet council of seven, and a community of 12,000+ dog parents who care as much as we do. We're still small. We still test everything ourselves. We still won't sell anything we wouldn't put in our own home.
Thank you for being part of it. And tell Theo we said hi.
We wanted a small, beautiful shop
for the dogs we love - and the homes we share with them."
